A6 - Creating a Digital Traditonal Knowledge Map

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Using an Elephant Thoughts created web app found at CodersNorth.com we can teach any teacher how to create their own community digital knowledge map for free with just cell phones, iPads or any computer.   To create a digital traditional knowledge map students interview community members about any topics of their choice, history, traditional teachings, contemporary culture, language, music or anything they choose.  The interviews are recorded, photographed, or video recorded using simple technology and then posted to points on a digital map.   When the map is complete the community can click on any point to see the video or information.  The map then serves as a digital archive and geographical portrait of the community stories.  Project is suitable for students grade 5 to 12 in many subjects computer science, history, geography, social studies, drama, art.  Completed maps are owned by the community or school and teachers can decide what information is accessible to general public and what is for community use only.
